A new independent poll released by EPIC/MRA, commissioned by the Detroit Free Press and four Michigan TV stations, shows the race in Michigan’s 3rd District within single digits, with a margin of error of 4.9%.Poll results:
Miles: 37
Amash: 46
3rd Party: 8
Undecided: 9
According to the Detroit Free Press, Miles leads by 46-27 among Independent voters.
Justin Amash’s single-digit lead is likely due to his much higher name recognition. Only 12% of voters don’t know who Justin Amash is, while 34% of voters still have not heard of Pat Miles.
Justin Amash’s unfavorability is astronomical at 36%, with 20% having a very unfavorable view of him.
Pat Miles’ favorability is 32%, and his unfavorability is only 23%, with just 6% having a very unfavorable view of him.
Miles campaign spokesperson Amy Fetherolf said, “As voters get to know both candidates, we are seeing that Justin Amash’s partisan attacks are not working. Pat Miles is the candidate who is talking about the issues facing voters, and offering specific plans to create jobs in West Michigan through lowering taxes for small businesses.”
